Kane has extensive experience and a vast array of knowledge in bush firefighting and bushfire mitigation spanning four states and territories across Australia.

As a Fire Mitigation Officer with the NSW Rural Fire Service in the Riverina District, the Mid North Coast of NSW and the Sydney Basin area, Kane was employed 19 years.  In addition, Kane has worked in both rural and urban communities as a Volunteer Firefighter for the last 21 years.

Kane holds qualifications in Fire Hazard Assessment, Community Protection Planning, Fire Safety Education, Hazard Reduction Burn Planning and Implementation and Emergency Response Co-ordination. He also has a Diploma of Business (Frontline Management) and a Certificate II in Firefighting Operations. His work and actions have saved countless lives and properties, and he has gained many citations for his actions prior, during and after significant fire and other emergencies.

Kane believes mitigation is about providing the right advice and tools so that people can make informed decisions about the impact of bush fires, thus reducing the risk of damage to property and the environment, and potentially saving lives.
